Must be exiting to be able to look forward to a brand new '44.
I have to say if Carrera Motors is willing to fit that belt it must be good. They tend to rather go overboard than skimp.

Counting the days......and not thinking too hard about the bill.. Frans has been working with these cars for 30 years.... I trust them... unfortunately, he is retiring and will be selling/closing the business soon, and his chief mechanic is moving to Oz.

Thats terrible news, I use to take mine to Rob in Wynberg but he also closed down.
Now I use Al's in Pta west, The place does not look too good but Al use to work for Peco and does have the knowledge, he did my clutch, steeringrack and motormounts with a few other things at a reasonable price so I'm happy to go back there.

Our S2s went down around the same time and mine is due to be roadworthy in a few days also. Andy (nine-44) has been the best wrench anyone could ask for! I have been trying to learn from his vast experience, but it would take eons. The SOW and the 'fest is lucky to have him around.

Fetched the car on Friday afternoon..... and got up early on Saturday and had a fantastic drive into the country side and watched the sun rise and again on Sunday with wife and son (not as early though).... I wanted to get a few hunderd Kms on the block before Monday morning traffic...

I thought the car was responsive before... but now, what a pleasure.... no lifter noise during warmup, oil perfect, temperature guage barely moved once warm..... and.. you gotta love a 16v with new belts.. The headlights even seemed brigher.. (cleaned earth).

Vince.. how was your S2 once you got it back on the road....?

Terrific! But, I have to ask about the bill.

Something like this can't be cheap, but it's better than buying a new (boring) 2007 car of any make. Is that how you'd look at it?

It was great getting back behind the wheel after what seemed like an eternity. The whirring sond was really music to my ears. I have to admit, I was like an nervous parent - checking all the guages for anyhthng that looked funny. My oil pressure guage actually reads differntly now - looks like the cleanup has provided a little more sensitivity. One of the lifters is chattering a bit, but hopefully it will work its way down after a few more miles.

The rides have been absolutely marvelous. Doc Boost deserves all the kudos here. A new engine again! Congrats, PW, thanks for askin'.

Thinking about overboring my old block and building a 3.1 though!

Hmmm... yeah it didn't come cheap...enough to buy a small African country....Zimbabwe comes to mind , but yes....still cheaper than a new car and you have to think like that to justify this insane compulsion to pour money into these cars.... then again, my wife agrees, its also cheaper than another woman

lastly.. I assume boring 2007 excludes a Cayman S ?

I almost replace all mine till I saw the price and after a rebore and new pistons.. it was just too much... I ended up replacing 2 soft ones... luckily, these must have been the two that where noisy before the rebuild. Hope yours will settle in soon.

well, I was thinking something comparable to what that engine rebuild cost...like a Toyota or a 2 year old BMW.
