CameronKame, you're in NC, right? thscc.org does a lot of events, and they have links to all of the other local clubs, like triad, carolina z club, etc.

I never got any respect or comments on my 944. When I got it painted, my neighbors and a couple friends gave me some kind words but nobody was ever really impressed (well maybe some pedestrians whom I never saw, but whatever).

My 968 gets respect from everyone, but I still don't get the ooh ah factor I thought I'd get. Some people have tried to race me but I never let them. I have nothing to prove, nothing to win, everything to lose.

Though, my mom has taken my 968 out twice, and both times she got comments from people. Now that she has her own, she's only gotten 1 or 2 remarks. I couldn't care less - I got a 968 for ME, not for everyone else. I think it's a beautiful, well crafted car and it makes me grin!

yeah lol, 944s don't get much respect, actually any porsche other than a 911 doesn't get much respect from most people but I don't give a crap not the reason I bought the car

i dont get a whole lot of respect in my car- a few waves on the way up to the DE in the truck w/ the trailer/car on the back though. Since ive put the 295's on the back, no one wants to race anymore.

-btw- we just painted black over the PO's yellow calipers on my brother in "laws" n/a the other day. If anything they should be red. Nice clean black works for me.

You know...I do seem to get more attention from my 944 (the red one) than from the C2 Cab. After reading what you guys have posted....I had to stand back and take a gander for myself. Putting my brain into spectator mode...The dam the does look like an old Ferrari...Somewhat? I guess these cars have been off mainstream for a while now and most people just do not know.

DAN....I have the same wheels on my red ride...2004 996 turbotwists :-)

When someone does actually comment on my car(s) I tend to play it way down and say something like..."Yeah it's a fun little car." and then go about my business.

On the other hand...I think I get a lot of angry people in front of me for some reason. I can actually see them looking back at me in their mirros and purposely driving like **** in front of me, tapping brakes, driving slow etc. I think it has to do with the sounds of the 931 engine, or maybe they can read the look on my face that says..."Get the hell over or something, my car does not like to cruise at 40 mph!" Really, I think its just the badge.

Great pics!

Personally, I don't care what people think about my car, either. Lke Arash said, I bought the car for me.

I like to tell people the truth... "It's a 20 year old car I got off eBay."

I think that's more impressive than a new Ferrari

Well, I can understand some of you not getting any attention because of where you live, as I live in a redneckish town. I've only seen 3 Porsches here in the past years, with just one being a 944.

Yeah xsboost, but I didn't think red on red would look very good. I did think about black, but I guess there's a little rice in me too...

hahah- yeah, we all have alittle, like my dads altezza taillights on his truck.

i went out to a birthday party and my dads cousin says "it must be nice, driving around in expensive cars" or something like that. I said " its 21 years old"

she replies "really, i thought it was new"

i said " yeah i keep it waxed"

People don't know cars. And they don't know Porsches (other than 911's). So, they see an older, strange to them 944, and have no idea what it is! Due to the timeless design of the 944, it looks a lot newer than it is, which adds to the confusion!

Oh those ladies in the caddys. I was at a store once when I drove a chrysler town and country and I parked next to a 996. When I was getting out a older lady walks up and looks at my van and says she likes it. I thought for sure she was talking about the 996 but she look me she like the vans "style".

I don't get much "Porsche Respect"...

I think the only times I can think of were when I first bought it. I went into Pep Boys to grab some stuff and when I came out, 3 or 4 of the techs were standing around it. Turns out one was a fellow owner of an '84 (IIRC)... gold/champagne with Turbo Twists.

The other time was at a gas station in Douglassville, PA. where the guy at the pump next to me asked "Porsche run OK on Wawa gas?". I said of course and we talked about it for a minute or two. Turns out he owns an '03 911. Cool guy.

Other than that I get some dirty looks and some looks in general but nothing I can call "Porsche Respect".

Aw Well... its mine and thats all that matters.

You know I still get a fair amount of attention with my 944. It's funny, my wife never believed me until we had some tree service guys over doing an estimate...and they asked her if she'd be willing to sell it! Now suddenly she thinks it's not so bad...

I have perfected the "I'm in a Porsche and I don't need to race you look"...really helps to avoid getting into (and losing) drag races with minivans and Subarus!!

8^)

Last weekend (First weekend of having my 944S3 out) I went to a Datsun meet and was surprised with all the Z guys gathering around my '83 and admiring it... I hadn't even parked where the other cars were, just off to the side somewhere haha
