Do you have tires dismounted on both sets? Or are you comparing wheel/tire combos? If tires are mounted, are they the same brand/size tires? Tire weights vary quite a bit between brands.

I have never picked up a 968 5-spoke, so maybe they are heavier than a phone dial or CS wheel.

My stock alum. 8x16 PDs are actually lighter than the 9x16 Club Sports, and about the same as the 7x16 CSs. I have never believed that the Club Sports are a light wheel - strong, yes, light - no.

To me, it seems the 968 5-spoke 8Jx16 wheel is a little lighter than the rear 9.5x16 (or is it 9Jx16) Turbo Cup wheels. But that's just what my "butt-o-meter-dyno" tells me. Keep in mind that the wheel widths are different - that extra 1.5 inches may make the Turbo Cup wheels feel heavier, when indeed they are only heavier because they are wider.

At least according to the PET.

Those sound like cast D90s, not forged club sports.
Am I mistaken?

Could be. I always thought those were the Club Sport ones. But now that you mention it, I think you're right.
