Sorry I just saw this, I'm at a hotel business center. Do an advanced search on my name + insert. There are two easy ways to go. Neither method requires that you remove the strut case and no spring compressor is used. Someone came up with a good way taking the upper strut mount off and loading the insert through the hole in the wheel well. I just remove the spring by pressing down on the control arm w/ the sway disconnected and pulling the strut outward to clear the fender lip.

are the early koni inserts worth anythign to anyone for rebuilding?
are they worth keeping around?

The inserts are not rebuildable.

However, they make great snowman arms...
