Default Exhaust ?

I am setting up my wife’s 924S for DE and want to put some sort of exhaust on it that isn’t to loud on the street, but has a NICE sound to it when you open it up on the track and get the revs up. What do you use? I normally do the air cooled cars, so any help you guys can throw me would be great. - Jay

Jesses,
Well, since I haven't stayed with a budget from the begining, why start now. But I would be interested in a decent system for the money. If I could get a few popular options to look into that would be great.

i installed a FULL SFR 2.5" SS exhaust on my car and gained in the region of 15HP at the wheels. It is expensive, but 100% worth it, IMO. you can check it out here. my suggestion would be to ask tim for a quieter muffler, though.

I too would be interested in hearing about 924S and 8-valve 944 exhaust options... in particular, piping sizes and dyno results. Does anyone know what the stock exhaust piping diameter is for these cars?

Just have your stock muffler removed and replace it with a Magnaflow muffler and it will sound great. You can have your muffler shop keep the stock tip and weld it back onto the new muffler. It only cost me $150 for parts and labor.

Hey if you do a search I started a exhaust clip thread. From what I understand any 8v 944 exhaust will work on the 924s.

I'm in the process of fabricating a new exhaust for my s2. I'll keep people posted...

I was going to have the only exhaust shop I trust build me a stainless steel set up. When I talked to the owner he said they don’t build stainless, too hard to work with and pricey. So I’m looking for a cat back system that will lose some weight (I have an NA so losing weight is my only option) and a sound that is just a bit more then stock.

I have already gut the cat and I have heard (haha) that this gives the car more HP and a better sound. However I haven't started the car since Tinman944 and I have my car in a bunch of pieces all over his garage.
