My current goal is somewhere around 275-300ish - I think I'd want to get to maybe 350 eventually, but I figure that'll take some more serious funding.
AFAIK, there aren't any issues with stiffer springs and the stock cam. The main issues you typically hear about, such as lifter failure, are largely a result of people using stock lifters and springs (especially old, worn ones) with a high lift aftermarket cam that has aggressive ramp up rates.

Ok, cool.

Here's a question for ya: with my current funds, I have two main options I can consider, and I'm wondering what people would recomend. Would you recomend doing stage 1 (with stiffer springs and o-rings) and upgrade to a 27/6 or 26/8, or doing a stage 2 and staying with the 26/6?

I'm thinking I'll not do the exhaust port work and use that money to get one of lindsey's dual boost level controllers...

Ask him

That is true.
Port matched to larger than 951 size, little different shape too.

Personally, I say a 27/8 and stage 1 (I'm not a fan of the 27/6). 27/8's aren't laggy IMO, though I don't mind full boost around ~3.5k rpm and some people do. I think it would be a waste to do the stage 2 head and keep a 26/6. At least with a bigger turbo you'd be able to make quite a bit more power.

How much later do the 27/8's spool up comared to a 27/6? I've found that I'm usually much more of a torque person than a high-rpm power person, so I don't think I'd mind loosing some top end for quicker spool up.

At least currently...
