In my HONEST opinion, the first thing to do would be to ask the Police to run a VIN on it. Simply call the non-emergency number and just verify that it's not stolen (for piece of mind).

What do you hope to get for the car? A Turbo 944 could fetch 2,500 bucks without the title if it was running / driving. There are lots of states that don't even require a title. I just purchased a 1984 Porsche 944 from Georgia. It had NO title. Anything 1986 and older does not require a title from them. There are many states like that. It was a bit harder for me because Florida is really strict, but other states are not.

How did you last put it up for sale? If you put it on eBay, it WILL sell. I guarantee it.

If you can guarantee to someone that it does in fact run, then you'll more than likely get a buyer.

In California, you can lien sale a vehicle and get a title for any car provided its not stolen and you bought it so there are no other parties who will come pick it up during the lien sale process.

I ran the Vin.. its not stolen.. New Jersey is a Pain in the ***.. I got all the paperwork to acquire a title.. and i found out it takes months to complete the process. I know I can get alot more then 2500 parting it.. Ive parted a few other cars.. so doing it is not a problem.
