If Michael is willing to crack the FRWilk equipped DME open, the PowerProm chip is clearly labeled. The shudder fix has a simple OS944 label on it.

Michael has a pile of early DMEs now. Long ago he got the wilk chip for his DME, but his DME is was socketed from the factory, even though it is indeed an '84 DME. We can't seem to find another one like it. He also has some that have a single soldered prom instead of several proms.

He also has the Wilk board, the sudder chip, and the power chip. Like I said, I just don't remember from our conversation which one he was running before he put my chip in a late DME and started running it. He also has a late 944 and an early one.

He studied the Wilk board, and came up with a like design, there's only so many ways you can take addressing of four chips and point it to one. He has come up with an alternative design, and we've sent that to moats.net for further development. Craig moates will study an ECU and the board and propose a manufacturing cost. Then Michael would be converting the ECUs on a core/exchange basis when people purchase the 944MAX chip.

This is a HUGE help to me, and to the early market. I have been trying to get my hands on an early ECU to see what must be done to make an adapter for several months now, to no avail. I don't know when I would have ever gotten to it. Michael is very sharp and his willingness to do the conversions for people at a fair price will benefit everyone.

Once Craig has the schematics and ECU in hand to determine the best use of the available real estate in the ECU, the turnkey solution should be available in short order.

Regards,
Russell

So for an ECU swap, could I send you a complete computer and you send me the chipped version?

Yes, that's how it will work. Not sure on the price yet, depends on board cost and what Michael wants to charge for doing the conversions. There will be a core charge until the ECU exchanged tests good, then it will be refunded.

Russell

Still waiting for a dyno on the NA chips to see if I need to do any final tweaking, this should have already been done. I'll see if I can't light some fires under some people...

Russell

Are these going to be around the $200-$300 mark? If so I might just have to get one for my '87 NA

Hey Russell, I have a 85.0 DME with the EPROM. Do you think a chip is doable for the 85s?

All NA chips, 944NA/944S/944S2 chips are 175.00 retail, and I always start with a 150.00 30 day Rennlist promotion, which should be coming soon on the NAs.

Regards,
Russell

924S is essentially, mechanically, a 944... I believe it should work... no wait, it WILL work Happy Day!
