Hi!
On thursday finally after two days hard work I started the 'ole N/A with a turbo. Turbo itself is IHI from Hyundai Terracan 2.9 and has less than 2000km on it (car got crashed).
Intercooler is from Audi 200 and needed the plastic pipes to be modified to right direction.
Car runs incredibly well: on 2000rpm 3rd gear display reads 100kPa (1 bar absolute) and hits full boost 0.8 Bar over absolute in 3000rpm. And what's most important: it stays that way to the redline! 8)
Did a comparison run with stock '87 951 from a rolling start, you can guess who won
Pay no attention to the hose on the throttle body, because it's kinda band-aid: I left the stock rubber at first but it virtually blew in pieces after it saw 0.7 bar. Yesterday I made intake longer. All intake tubing is stainless and TIG welded. All of the exaust is also stainless 3" and TIG welded except crossover pipe and downpipe. Crossover pipe is made from first piece of stock exaust: I cut it shorter and welded pointing towards the engine.
Of course fitting two 63mm pipes in that tight space was a challenge, but not that bad.
Have to do a lot of cleaning under the hood but hell, car runs like it should be!
Fitted the Cup1 wheels from my 931 on N/A because spring suddenly came and rubber on 18" twists is a bit worn (I ordered new tires but the won't arrive until 2 weeks).

IC is little bit tilted but it just couldn't be fit more straight in that location

I bought 951 calipers also, got them sandblasted with a special very fine sand and then painted.

Homebuilt turbo projects... I love it. I did my old '85 BMW 318i last year on a shoestring budget and that car was one of the most fun-to-drive vehicles I've owned yet. It would be crushed by the 951, but it was tossable, and had a quick acting boost curve.
I might consider making a few bolt-on turbo kits for the 924 in the next year. I'm weighing options as to which cars I will be making kits for, aimed at the shadetree mechanic types who can assemble a kit, but not fully fabricate their own stuff.
Great job, raceboy. Cheers for DIY turbo setups!

Thanks guys!
It's completely stock Euro 924 (125 hp from factory, 9.3:1 CR)) and it's still in original factory condition, NO rebuilds. This car has 330 000 km on the clock by now.
Fuel and spark are controlled by VEMS v3.3.

Heh, no, because I'd have to bring 931 to same decency level (yellow Konis, all new suspension etc) and setting ECU install aside, do you know how much all that turbo thing cost me? exactly 270 euros! VEMS + EFI injectors, rails etc cost me additional 1000 euros. I do everything myself and besides, this car gets new engine for next spring (2.5 16v Turbo, GT35R).
And it's faster than stock 931 for instance
