Dallas just plain SUCKS!!! Pretty much everything north of Waco is flat and boring. Central/Hill-Country/South Texas is where it's at.......

Too bad none of that is real. Because, this is what the lone-star state looks like:

What the hell are you talking about?
I drove 180 miles through texas between Dallas and the top right corner of your blue circle - Lubbuck, and didn't see ****. 1 town. 0 cops. Sustained 95mph. 20 (maybe) cars.
Flat, yes. Boring, holy **** we were singing to ourselves.

Edit - I lied. It was 350 miles. Still 20 cars and 1 town.

I dont have the heart, time, patience or knowledge to start ripping it apart and part it out. Some guys on here are much better at it then I could ever be.

Ok, so some things that have been done over the winter:

new hood shocks
new hatch shocks
new rear hatch seal
new hatch pins (shark47's)
Lindsey vacuum kit
fuel injectors replaced
dash bulbs replaced
oil cooler replaced & new seals
new oil pan gasket, oil pan & tube
new motor mounts
new outer tie rods (new inners are sitting in bag)
PS pump rebuilt (not installed)
new AC/Alt tensioning rod (in box still)
new coolant hoses
new Blaupunkt tweeters (not hooked up, crossovers still in box)
custom 8" sub box (sanded but needs fiberglas & carpeted)
replaced front struts/springs (came from a doner car with only 36xxx miles on it)
extra set of fuel injectors
Intake & fuel rail sent off to JG to PC, you can work out a deal with him if you want. I already paid for the intake to be painted but not the fuel rail. Hurry on this one!
Black carpet installed, sound deadening installed under it. Still need driver & passanger kick panel carpet pieces though.
Replaced temp control unit
Has white faced gauges
Replaced ODO gear on 3/23
Alpine DVA-9860 DVD, CD, MP3, Radio (additional cost)
Kenwood 4.5" LCD (additional cost)
968 door handles
968 radio antenna
red e-flasher (not installed but works)
Ebrake pads/springs (not installed yet)
Have some oil & air filters still new as well as some other parts that will be included.

LSD is amazing. Wouldn't break away from me in the snow or rain!

Located in zip 63376. Give me an offer. If it's decent enough I might take it. Already looking for a replacement toy.

What color of vacuum hose do you need?

I have a bunch of extra red and black from Lindsey - be more than happy to send it your way for the cause......

I don't even know what to say... i was going to head over to your place tonight to drop off the wires for the speedo, but had forgotten that i had plans for a movie with my girl and instead was going to drop by tomorrow. what time did this happen and was it at your house? i'm so sorry man, you put a lot of time and money into the car. this is so disappointing... what are you planning on moving on to? please say you are staying in the porsche family! You know my 944 is still 4 sale!

Tell me about it. Was in the garage when it happened. Was moving it out to clean the garage and bam! Fire. Totall sucks. Looking to stay in the family. If I had the cash I would buy your 944 in a heart beat, but the wife wants new kitchen cabinets.

there isn't any chance you would want to repair the damage? it would seem to me that it would be more cost efficient to try and replaces the burnt hoses then to buy a new car, because for example, even my 944 has things that it would need to be done to it, and since you've already done most everything to the car... can you see where i'm heading with this? lol

Wow. That really stinks. After helping me with my radio, and telling me about your interior plans, io could not wait to see your car in it's finished state. I am glad that no one was hurt, but EXTREMELY sad for you. Best wishes!

Hang in there man, let the dust settle and the venom and disappointment wear off and then make whatever decision you're going to make. I'm assuming this wasn't your daily driver so let it sit for a bit, you obviously put a lot of work into it so you must have a passion for it...give it time, it'll come back.

All that said, it makes me sick to see those pics and my condolences on the fire.

BTW, I was back there recently for a funeral, staying at our friend's house at 94 and Zumbehl. Sure miss those White Castles...

If it was your DD, you could just convince the wife-unit that it'd be a hell of alot cheaper to buy some new hoses and stuff or buy that other 944 that's been well-taken care of than to go get some wrong-wheel-drive econobox.

Not my DD thank goodness, but was going to be the summer car.

Looks like it needs the following. Could be more, but this is the best that I can tell so far. Looks like the electronics were spared, even the radio & heater still work.

Needs:
speed & ref sensor
O2 sensor
Brake resivor cap & cable ends
Accelerator cable is binding so I would replace it
vacuum hose kit from lindsey
vacuum check valve by brake booster
major power wash

All this could be an easy fix for someone. I'll even make a great deal if someone wants it and the 2 tool cabinets I have up for sale.
