I admit it, I am a junky. I've been running n2o on my vette for some time now and just can't get enough. I'm trying to keep the 'day to day' driving down on the vette and bought a 944. It's a great car and fun to drive, but daaaaamn is it in need of a boost. I know they were never drag race cars, but that isn't going to stop me. I'm thinking of putting a little 75 hp shot on it. I've looked through the forum threads and it doesn't seem like anyone runs n2o on these cars. Why not? do they not take well to a little viagra in the intake?

Someone here runs a 50 shot in an S2. No reason why you can't. Some will say it's a little too "Fast and Furious" but hey, it's your car. Have fun with it!

One reason is that it is not allowed on the track. If they catch you with a bottle at tech, your day is done. I know several have run it on street cars, I know one who ran it on a turbo with water injection.
Go for it and let use know how it works out.

Took a quick look, but I guess I'll have to dig a little deeper to find your n20 setup.
I'm not planning on trackin it... ever. (maybe a run or two down the 1/4 but that would be it). Just need a little bump getting on the fwy... and ahead of those damn 350z's.

Well, before you do a 1/4 mile run, read a little on how the clutch, trany and CV joint do under drop clutch runs. The stock cars have strong components, but not ones that like that kind of abuse. There are plenty of upgrades to solve the problems, but just like the 1/4 mile guys find out, they all cost $$$.

Thanks Brian, but that's one of the beauties of N2o... you don't start spraying until you're at/above 3000 rpm. Since your car is already moving, and at normal hp ranges, it's not nearly as much beating on the drive train as n/a mods or sc/tc applications. And then, for the rest of the driving time.. it's just a normal little car.

I think Brian is referring to the actual "launch" at the track... The sudden clutch dump from 4k is what causes damage. Of course if you slip the clutch it wouldn't be as much abuse, but then your clutch might hate you..

few questions:
1. does the nitrous wear out quickly? how long does a bottle typically last you in a daily driver?
2. where is the switch for the nitrous?
3. is it dangerous to have that in your car?

1. does the nitrous wear out quickly? how long does a bottle typically last you in a daily driver?
There's not much to 'wear out' in a nitrous system and a 15 lb bottle on my stock 2000 vette will last about 12-15 1/4 mile runs. On the street, that adds up to a couple months. The few times you actually spray, it doesn't take too long before the dot in your rear view mirror gives up.
2. where is the switch for the nitrous?
Several switches actually. There's one on the gas pedal for wot, one on the fuel line to shut off in case of low fuel pressure, and one attached to the tach so it doesn't turn on until 3000 rpm.
3. is it dangerous to have that in your car?
If set up properly, it's not too hard on the motor. It's not, in itself, dangerous to have in your car. Nitrous is a mix of nitrogen and oxygen. It is not flammable. It just adds more oxygen into your cylinders, and with added fuel, makes more combustion. It only gets dangerous, like anything else, if you don't know what you're doing.

Only if a asian biker gang on crotch rockets shoot up your car with automatic sub machine guns..
I believe its illegal to drive with a nitrous tank in your car, if its open, or if you have a remote bottle opener.. So I don't know how that would work if you had a open hatch like our cars do..
