Default Manual Steering

So the rack in my 924s is leaking fluid. I figure the best way to fix the PS leak is to swap for a manual rack altogether. Cant leak fluid when there is none in the system. I know Ill need the rack and new tie rods. Are there any other parts I will need?

You need the steering shaft from the manny rack too, since power racks use a different length.

Also make sure that the tie rods are the correct offset, early offset in your case.

I just did this swap on my 924S and haven't looked back...

I want to do this in my 87 as well.

I heard the late manual tie rods are manufactured out of unobtainium - is this true? I guess I can make my own......

Sharky, just call paragon, they have the late offset manual tie rods. They are not cheap, as it's a euro cup car part, but they do have them.

I have set sitting right here that came a couple months ago... just need to pull the manual rack out o' the parts car.

Does anyone have the measurements of the ps intermediate shaft vs. the manual rack? I need to have mine lengthened and would rather have it done ahead of time rather than trial and error. Thanks, TT

The late offset tie rods are still available through Porsche. They are a rather common RoW part, as power steering was an option on cars not imported to the US. They are not significantly more expensive than any of the other tie-rods variations.
