how are you trying to get it out, is the engine in the car? are you threading a 8mm bolt in the end of the pin? need details on what you've tried before giving you suggestions that you may have already

First find a large hammer, and then obtain a monkey. Hand the hammer to the monkey and run. The monkey will start beating on things randomly and hopefully will hit your bellhousing in the exact spot to jar the pin out.

That's how I did it, at least.

It must be the dry weather out here but I've pulled 3 of those shafts and none of them took longer than 2 minutes using the bolt and a big 36mm socket for a sliding hammer on the bolt. Have you tried threading the bolt through a socket with the open end of the socket against the bellhousing? Just keep tightening the bolt until it breaks free. The monkey and BFH trick works everytime.

Actually, I just loosened the keeper bolt, stuck an 8MM in the end of the pin and used a punch to hammer it out.

You won't get it out by prying on it. I tried for hours. You need something to hammer on. Get a long piece of 8mm rod, and thread it in. I didn't have that, so I used a handful of 8mm studs, and threaded each one 1/2 way into a nut to "chain" them together. Then, I put a nut and washer at the end. I clamped vise grips just above the washer, and beat on the vise grips with a hammer. As you've probably found, there's little room to hammer in there, which is why you need the long threaded rod. It came out in a few minutes with this method.

Slide Hammer > $20 at Harbour Freight and your job will be done in 2 minutes. Right tool for the job makes the job simple as all get out.

I had trouble too on that step. You need a long enough bolt so you can get a good swing with the hammer like JayJ911 said. It'll come right out.

use a socket that is big enough to slide a bolt through. It must be slightly larger than the pin. Then, run a bolt with a swasher through it. Start tightening the bolt. This will cause the pin to push out as the bolt threads deeper. IT worked flawlessly for me. TWICE.

If the motor is out you can tap it out with a long punch or screwdriver through an access hole on the opposite side of the clutch housing.

You know I have 2 bellhousings on the shelf, have done 2 clutches, and neither of them have this 'mystery access hole' I hear about It must be something that came along after 86 or people drill their own hole. Am I missing something here?

Me too. I never saw the mystery hole on early cars...
