OK... I know I should have gone to Rennlist with this first... but I thought I'd try one of those Web salvage yard search sites. The guy said he had a manual steering rack from a 1983 944. Here's what I got (I left it wrapped so I can refuse shipment):
Sooo.... Does anyone know where I can find one? (The correct one, that is).
Also, I've got one from a 924 if anyone needs one. I thought I might be able to fit it to the 944 crossmember, but it looks like it'll require too much work.
Thanks,
Steve

You might be able to sell it for more than you bought it for - especially if its a GOOD reconditioned rack with good tire rods. Sell the tie rods seperate and make some $$$. Why am I so evil like this?

It's actually wrapped to a 2x4. This is for my race car. I've got a power rack that I run w/o plumbing, but I bent a tie rod so I thought I'd test out a manual rack if I could find one at a salvage yard or something. I actually only need the rack itself... The tie rods and intermediate shaft I can take off of the 924 rack.
