Default Sound-dampening removal

I searched a lot on this topic, but I still really haven't found an answer on my question. What are the benefits/problems with removing the sound dampening material under the passenger footwell?

Mostly I see that the main problem is removing it in the first place. Since I had like a pool of water from a leaking tray, It must have unworked the glue, because it came right up with no residue. So outside of the pain in removing it, what other problems with it not there will I run into? Will it be too loud for a DD? How much sound does it actually dampen?

The main benefit is the weight removal, right? Does that outweigh (pardon the pun) the problems with sound?

do you mean the padding under the carpet or the rubber underneath the car?

I think he's talking about the interior. under the passenger footwell there is a big styrofoam thing stuck under the carpet.

I'm ripping out all my insualtion because it's moldy but i'll be buying new insulation to replace it. I think the car would become too noisy if you get rid of a lot of sound deadening, road noise/ tire noise / gear box noise will make it annoying for me.

That's what a radio is for. haahhahahahahaha

It's not that heavy unless it's wet. but if you want to remove it to save weight it's a trade off. lighter but louder, but not by much really.

I had a old 924 before my 944 and also had no cat exhaust and I got tired of all the noise, you'd need a really good stere,

I agree removing one thing isn't going to make the car noticalby louder buty removing all the insulation will.

I replaced all the pads on the floors and rear deck with this double-foil faced stuff. It worked great and reflects heat very well also. I even added a open/closed cell neoprene under it for resonance control. I have a very quiet car now with very little added weight.

I think I am going to try this stuff out; How much did it take to do your car?

I did a rear seat delete/package tray thing last Summer using a stripped upper seat back. The center bracket attaches to the seat belt mounts and is for mounting the package tray without drilling any holes. It takes 4 screws for the whole assembly. I keep my camera in the small center tray. I also mounted amps on the folding seat portion after stripping off the leather and applying carpet with binding. I fold it down to avoid prying eyes when I park. These are terrible flash shots at night, it looks much better in daylight. I still need to dress up the wiring with a dark PlexiGlass center piece matched to the curve of the amps.

I bought 4 yards of the foil-faced stuff and 6 sheets of the Nuprene for the walls and doors. I have about 1.5 yds of the foil and 2 sheets of the Nuprene left.

Did you put the neoprene under all of the foil in the whole car? And what parts of the walls and doors did you put neoprene on?
I'm a noob, and I'll be replacing my carpet soon; sound deadening sounds like a capital idea, I just don't know exactly where to put it for max efficiency. TIA
