Cooling Fan operation
Ok, so I finished up a radiator job this weekend. When I went to bleed the system I noticed the fans were kicking on much earlier than they used to. With the old radiator and fan switch they came on at about the 3/4 line on the guage, and shut off when it got back down to around half. Now it come on a little past the half line and stays on until it gets to a little above 1/4. I guess they could have given me a bad fan switch? Is it possible that the sender for the coolant guage is seeing a different temp than the fan switch? Any way to test that? Thanks!!

yeah... I was just thinking that since its been very cold and if the guage pulls temps right after the radiator it might be working ok.... I did check th ebox for the switch and I think it said it was an 85 deg switch.

I am assuming you have a 924S based on your avatar, so im not sure if your car uses the two speed fans or single speed fans. Anyhow it sounds like you have a lower temp fan switch. The stock should be 92/102 (that is if you have the two speed fans). I believe the stock single speed fan switch should be 92*C.
I am pretty sure the temp range of the switch is written on the fan switch itself.

I just checked the order and it was for a 92deg switch. Ill have to check the damn thing again when I get home.... argghh.... As far as what fans I have, no clue. I read different things everwhere. The fan switch I have in the old radiator looks like the 3 prong switch on the late 944s, but it only has two connectors. The new switch looks like the regular early 944 switch. What a headache this has been...
