Car not starting
Searching the posts for battery options, I saw that you can Swap in a Honda Civic Battery. Seeing as my current battery is very old and completely Drained, I need a new one. Are all civic batteries the same from every year or do i need one from a certain civic generation? and are the terminals switched around?

Most* Civic batteries are a group 58r if I remember correctly. If thata the case, thr 'r' denotes that the terminals are reversed in comparison to the majority of other batteris. Thats not a problem though, as you can just use a standard group 58 if need be. I'm not sure on height though.

NOT THE BATTERY
I just found out that my problem is not the battery anyways:
THE PROBLEM: Sometimes my car doesn't like to start, it just started doing this, i cleaned the battery cables and it still does it. I will try to start my car and it will sometimes start, and sometimes i will hear a click near the firewall and a whirring near the back of the car (Starter maybe?)
The reason i thought it was the battery was because i am only getting 12 volts at the voltmeter no matter what RPM, so its probably not the alternator. But when i put a jumper pack on the car (to start it), i get 14 volts at the voltmeter, and it always starts. I tried a NEW battery and it does the EXACT same thing.
So, could it just be a bad connection, or is the starter going bad? Thanks in advance and I apologize for my crappy writing skills, you might have to ask for some clarification.
EDIT: My car is an 86 NA

If it helps, heres a pic of my mAd vtEc yO!!11!!!!1! You can see how the battery is oriented. This is 92-95 civic, 94-01 integra, and probably 96-00 civic. It would be lighter then 944 since its smaller. Hope this helps.

The thing is though, is it always starts when you put a jumper pack on it, or jumpstart it. and it sometimes starts without jumping it. IS there a possibility there is a bad ground or loose connection somewhere?

I think it might be a bad ground or loose connection. Can anyone give me all of the locations to check? I need to try to get it done tomorrow if i don't need parts
EDIT: I know for sure that the fuel pump is good.

maybe just the solenoid is bad on the starter or the starter is starting to wear out and is requiring more volts/amps to make the starter engage with the flywheel to start the car.
