Victoracer V700 VS Toyo Ra-1?

I guess the question is: if I am going to use the tires for all autocross this season AND 1 or 2 track events towards the end of this season, should I go with the Victoracers or the RA-1?

Dan:
The question you need to ask yourself is which venue will you be focusing on? If it's AX, the the Kumhos will probably give you better grip. If it's DE, then the Toyo's are a better choice.
I run Toyo RA-1s, and have been very pleased with their wear on the track, and the grip they give up at AX is only marginal compared to the Victoracers, especially in the lots that you and I autocross in. (both Metro NY and NNJR's ax lots have very little grip, and lots of loose gravel and/or sand.)

So if I am hearing (and comprehending) correctly: for track the toyo ra-1s are better than the victoracers on the track. As far as autocross, the ra-1s are way better than street tires although not as good as the victoracers BUT for the type of surface we (the z-man and I) autocross the difference between the victoracers and the RA-1s is minimal. So this translates to: if I do autocross AND DEs and I am not going for FTD at autocross, but am looking for a good track tire the Toyo RA-1s are the way to go.

what i found w/ the victos, is that after a season of autox'ing, they started to get alittle harder than when i first had them. Treadwear was fine and they did great autox but they were getting harder from driving on them. Just about that time i did some track events and they were just right - track makes higher temps, enough to get them to the proper temp they needed to be real sticky. I love my victos! That said, im getting RA1's this season cuz im planning on more track, less autox.

Because you are tossed up with the 2 different R compound tires, I would suggest going with the Falken Azenis RT-615 as these are the best street tires for autocrossing and also can be used in DE. The cost is ALOT cheaper than any of the R compound tires. This way you don't have to worry about getting another set of wheels just for your R compound tires.
That is also another thing to factor in as the Toyo RA1 is a tire that you will definitely get alot of mileage and performance out of and can still drive to and from the track.
I haven't tried the Kumho V700's so I can't compare between the two. Love my Toyos for DE.

I ahve another set of rims so that is not a problem. Was thinking of the Toyos for the second set of rims and change tires at autocross and DE events.
Do you thihnk the Falkens would be better than the Toyos at autocross?

for longevity i would take the RA1's hands down, they offer really good grip and last what seems like forever. Heat cycles dont seem to affect them at all.
they are also good in the rain until you start to wear them down.
if ultimate dry grip is the goal, at the cost of some longevity i recomend the Hoosier A6's, they blow both the khumo (even the 710's) and the RA1's out of the water.
