Hey Steve, let me know how it goes. I just bolted down the head on the spare engine I have on a stand and had no problems. Just put your foot against the stand as suggested by someone else on this thread. I've used that assembly lube in the black tube from Kragen - worked just fine. No lube on the backsides of the bearings, just the bearing surfaces themselves. For the oil pan, I use Danno's suggestion of using a thin bead of that yellow weatherstrip adhesive all the way around, and dabs of Permatex Ultra Gray in the corners. Hope that helps.

Now, the most fun I've had in a while was removing the head studs from another block I have - those things are in there...
