I know radio questions have been beat to death here. Sorry
996/Boxster Radio in an S2, I cannot tell from the pictures if its the standard radio size or if Porsche is going the Chrysler route and making different sizes.
Model # is 996.645.126.10
Hate the look of the aftermarkets, and lighting my face blue at night. "Stock look" A nice CD player.
Just wondering, be gentle...
John

CDR220 fits BUT if you buy one out of a 996 or Boxster you will need to have the face replaced due to the different viewing angle. Becker NA will provide you with a face that is visible in our cars for $100.
Use the search function for CDR220 or Becker on this board and you'll see some good pics of a 220 installed. Mine is sitting on the desk next to me waiting to go in the Porsche.
BTW, the model number on mine is different than you listed above. Mine says 996.645.126.00

Call them. The three plugs will cost you about $18 but you also need to check if the display will be visible in your car. Ask for the parts department. I think the guys name was Dan and he was very helpful.

Yeah, I noticed that the angle display problem is only on the CDR220 with the flip down CD face.
The CDR23 isnt a flip down face, hopefully won't have that problem. Hopefully...
anyway, Thanks for the input guys, I'll post when its all buttoned up.

I can play and operate my IPOD with the CDR220. I had to buy a Dension ICELINK for the 2 to communicate with each other.
EX, you need to talk with Becker. I don't think the CDR23 will work in a 944 without a lot of effort on your part. You need a CDR220 or a Traffic Pro.

Yeah, thought so Charlie. I'll give it the old college try when I get it and ask around local shops, but I think I'll be selling it again.
Its somthing about the new fibre optic power input that the new Porsches use, rather than a normal 12v.
Lesson learned.

I'd be interested if you decide to sell it. PM me if you do!

Are you satisfied with it? I know what Dension iceLink can do, but I'm wondering if it does all that well?

Basically you can control the IPod through the Becker with the Dension. You don't get the music titles on the Becker screen. I am satisfied but I wonder if some other interfaces that are cheaper might be just as good. PIE makes an interface but I have not researched to see what features it has.
