Default Are these stock wires/where do they go (gauge cluster)?

Pulled the gauge cluster out today to redo the reflective stuff on the lights, but when I pulled out the cluster I found two wires that were not mentioned in the clarks garage writeup. They come off of the two bolts behind the fuel gauge and engine temp gauge.

The shorter of the two wires (the one that connects behind the engine temp) was grounded on one of the screws holding the gauges in place - jammed between the plastic gauge cluster and the metal brace in the dash. Assuming this is the ground for the gauge, it looks like I've found why my temp would adjust itself when different electronics were running.

The second wire (connected behind the fuel gauge) ran down deeper into the dash, but when I pulled on it it just came out all wire tied together like in the picture. Is this supposed to be a ground or anything? The fuel gauge had been working perfectly fine, however I will admit that I might have pulled the wire hard enough to rip the wire out of a connector that was bolted in place.

So are there supposed to be any wires coming off of these, or can I just get rid of them?

Looks like the PO tried to tie into the dimmer function, probably for an aftermarket gauge. Dump those chumps

Yeah not stock. My guess is some sort of attempt at fixing a bad ground somewhere else...
