Default Clutch done, but now i have a brake problem...

The car was up on jackstands for almost 6 weeks while I did the clutch and other work. The rotors did get a thin coating of rust while sitting there...but they seemed to 'clean up' quickly when I got her on the road again. But, if I really push on the brakes initially they seem fine, but then the pedal seems to hit a brick wall and I can't really lock them up. Master perhaps?

the rust may have glazed your pads.

- you may be able to wear it off after a while of hard driving.

i'm guessing your not loosing any brake fluid? if you are i'd check the slave cylinder since it was just messed with.

Pedal gets hard? Check the vaccum line that goes into the power booster. If it is not seated correctly, you won't have enough reserve vaccum in the booster.

Did you work on your clutch hydraulics at all? If you did, you might have to bleed your brakes.

Didn't mess with the hydraulics, and the reservoir still looks nice and blue! I was in the area of the booster so I'll check the vacuum lines...so that's a good chance. I'll also drive it a bit more to see if I glazed the pads...

Thanks!

Bingo. Kevin wins the prize! I found a cracked connector on the booster...some creative use of epoxy and now the brakes are back to normal!

Thanks!

Steve
