Default Picture Request: Early Belly Pan Installed

Does anybody have a picture of an early belly pan installed (early 944 or any 924S)? I'm interested in the areas that it covers, so a shot from under the car looking up would be perfect.

I tried searching here, google, pelican, paragon, etc etc but can only find one PET picture, which is exploded and doesn't have what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Mine is still at Wade's.. but I can tell you this. 7-8 10 mm bolts (iirc 15 mm long)
there are 3 10 mm bolts for the crossmember (rearwards towards the firewall)
2 10 mm bolts in the wheelwell inboard near each shock tower.
and 2-3 10 MM bolts on captive nuts on the front of the 924S/

It's dark where I am, but I'd be happy to reinstall mine tomorrow and take pics.

I deleted my AC last year and the pan is still sitting in my garage. I need to do it, so this is a good excuse to get out there.

AFAIK they came on all 944s (not sure about early 944s or 924s) and ended on the MY92 968s. there were two panels. A plastic and an aluminum piece. The plastic piece was attached to the batwing and crossmember, and the aluminum pan wraped around the oil pan.

Here is a 951 that had them removed. I drew where they're supposed to be for you. Hope this helps! (it's a mirror image...I accidentally flipped it and saved it...)

Sorry the bottom area's hard to read. It says that the plastic belly pan is the blue area and goes forward to the batwing.

Those pictures are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

Now, does anybody know where the hell you find a new one? Or does anybody have a good used one, preferably in SoCal?

I can't seem to find one...but I might be looking under the wrong part name.

Good luck finding one. When I sold the 83 for a spec build, the buyer looked like he had struck gold when I said I had one in the side yard. They really help stability at higher speeds and to settle the nose down. They are hard to find though but easier to remove than a 951 batwing.

Your best bet is to look on eBay, i see them pop up occasionally. They are a little more than $200 new from Porsche... 944 341 161 03

They are indeed kind of a rare thing to find on 944's, even the plastic tray is often left off, i was lucky to find one locally for my '87. My 924S amazingly still had it, i left it off for a few months as i was to lazy to put it back on, ended up putting it back on before i sold the car.

EXECPT for the fact that the 924S never had that belly pan.

There are 3 styles of pans

1) Metal 944 & 924S 83-85 & 924S. 1 piece metal. Goes from the lower radiator support to cross member. Sliver metal with two large sides that attach to front frame rails. I had to cut my sides off to allow clearance for my brake ducts.

2) Plastic 944 - All 944 nose cars (85.5 to 89). 1 piece plastic. Sort of a cross between the 1) metal and turbo/s2/968 panels. Goes from radiator support to crossmember

3) 3 Piece Plastic/metal 951/S2/968 - Starts with Batwing, then has plastic radiator support to crossmember, then the final is metal going behind the oil pan. I believe the last one is the most rare as my car the first 2 pans, but not the 3rd metal one. The picuture above shows the final two.

I have one off my early 85 that I'm not using..;]

I'd have to check with my associate mechanic/father-unit to see about selling it though.
