Ya, brooms just roll the nails around and around.

When I worked on the shop floor, we'd use brooms at the end of every day to sweep up nails, screws, etc and never had that problem. Of course you DO have to sort of PUSH on the broom!

Maybe you could get Jesse to modify your 944 specifically for picking up nails, like he did w/the golf *****.

They were left there by a tire dealer. That's how you can tell when they are having a TIRE SALE!!!

Dip your tires in molten iron and let it cool; you'll have ironclads. Never have to worry about nails again...but the ride would be noisy as hell.

I actually tried that first. There are a large number of cracks in this section of the road so I decided mgnets would be the best approach.

I went out with 4 large magnets stuck to the underside of a long stick and picked up as many as I could see. I "prooly" pulled five soild handfulls of nails up in just a couple of mintues. People were looking at me like I was crazy.

I know it wasn't enough, there is one I missed that has my name on it. I have a feeling my Karam is not that hot lately for some reason.

When I was at the hardware store, the clerk is is an old retired state trooper and he told me this story.

He once responded to a call on the I-95 where a keg of nails had fallen off a truck on the road way. He said that there were no less than 100 cars all over the sides of the south bound lane with tires flat.

He said the odd thing was that if the car was a front wheel drive car, the nails wound up in just the front wheels and if it was a rear wheel drive car they stuck in the backs. He had no idea why this occured.

Anyway I was amazed at how many "other"sharp things were out there as well.

So, the solution is to get TWO porsches -- one daily driver and one weekend car!

I hear ya... I have two, and still my daily driver is a 4 door sedan...

But, once upon a time, before I became a complete track junkie and a father, 944s were my daily drivers (first an NA for 5 years, then a turbo for 4 years).

Maybe some day I'll strike it big, and then get a glass roof targa as a daily driver!
