Default Transaxle - so close to dropping - SOS

I'm at the point where it says to remove the two bolts from the cross member to chassis, move back and drop the transaxle. I'm looking at the two bolts holding the cross member (near each rear tire) which spans the rear of the car and I cannot see how I am going to ever get the cross member to clear the fuel filter and lines. What am I missing here? Does the cross member come down with the transaxle? SOS

Personally, when I do it, I remove the two bolts on the center mount that holds up the transmission.

Then, once the transmission is out, you can easily take that cross brace off to the side to clear the fuel lines.

I disconnected the fuel filter because I had to replace it anyways. But yeah, it is really hard to get the cross member to clear the fuel filter and lines. You can always do it Van's way.

Thanks Van. I was looking up in there and wondering why it didn't just say to remove those bolts. Access is a little tighter, but it would make the package seemingly much more manageable. I think that is what I'll try.
If my gas tank wasn't so full I'd be more likely to remove the filter all together.
