We have to have front plates here in TX, I have been driving around a 951 with no front plate and a Georgian rear plate and have yet to get stopped......

Now you just need to modify the rear license plate bracket so that the plate sits a little higher up and in the middle of the opening, instead of overlapping the lower part that says "PORSCHE".

The only thing that would make it cooler is a Rennlist frame...

Hahaha, well where ever that is I like the floor paint. I'm going to be painting mine soon and I'm starting to pay attention to that kind of stuff

I got a ticket in NY for no front plate. The State Trooper that pulled me over explained how unsafe it is to leave off the front plate. As she was telling me this, an old F150 drove by us that had a 4x4 front bumper held on with bungee cords.

We've gotten countless tickets for not having front plates on our cars. 2 or 3 times on the 928, luckily never with the 968. The 944 and my old 944 always had front plates.

Dude that mod is crazy - you need to just make them for us, then set up a group buy. I don't think I want to try that DIY.

In Cali you're *supposed* to have a front plate, I run one...

but the cops never seem bothered by those Vettes or Rice Rockets without anything up front..

For the folks with Turbo front end, I have seen a lot of cars that either cut up or fold the front plate. You can make it smaller so it does not block the airflow. On the front, Ohio just needs to see the letters/numbers. Of course some cops could be a PITA about it, but all the officers I spoke to had no problem with it. I have mixed feelings about the appearance but it is an airflow improvement, and lighter too!

Here is the ultimate front plate mod; notice the frame is removed. The mod is behind the plate. It is a large recess in the bumper hidden by the plate that matches up with tongue of your favorite tow vehicle. Please also notice the modded driver's side mirror. Allows the mirror to appear to hang off the car being held on only by electrical tape.

Gentlemen-

I am heartened by your support and flattered by your admiration. I really haven't had a great deal of experience wrenching on the various Porsche models. My recent background has been primarily working within a very finite niche in the Domestic Engineering field. Essentially projects along the lines of 'Infant Bio-Waste Disposable Garment Extrication' and 'Waste Management Container Deployment'.

HOWEVER, I have always felt a calling into this current technical challenge. Rest assured that this is only the TIP of the Iceberg. Based on this custom engineering breakthrough... I am currently fielding offers from a number of different independent Venture Capital firms. These VC's are eager to partner with me to develop a go to market business model & strategy for such ground breaking automotive innovations like the one that I've shared with you on this thread.

Stay tuned.

FWIW, many Audi guys I know don't run a front plate at all here in Portland. Only once have I heard of anyone getting harassed, and then it was a case of them already being nabbed for speeding. The cop gave the a repair-or-pay ticket, so the person just threw the plate on, got the ticket dropped and took it back off.

I guess you know the saying... 'Don't break the law when you're breaking the law'. They have enough other crap to worry about around here, so they likely won't nab you just for that, but...

Paul-

I am continually humbled by the innovative minds of my peers here on Rennlist. I've been hearing rumors that NASA has caught wind of the collective Engineering braintrust that has been developing here within the 944 thread... "Houston?.... nevermind!.. we don't have a problem anymore.. I just finished reading the 944 board on Rennlist!"

Sincerely,

VinsBalticBlueS2
