Anyone else feel this way?
Do you derive a perverse pleasure ripping stuff out of your car? First it was the PO's heavy ghetto stereo system. Then the leaky power steering rack was ditched for a manual rack. It felt great pulling out the stupid PS pump and cooler lines. Now I'm in the middle of an A/C delete and loving it? The engine bay should be much easier to work on without all the clutter.
I'm starting to think I would really get off on stripping this thing down to a pure track car!

I have started the slippery slope of stripping stuff out of the car in favor of less weight. Was going to do manual steering but decided against it right now. Ill probably get to that sometime down the road.
My a/c is coming out sometime in the next week or so.

great post. I dont think i could ever have a 944 as a street car, but i did enjoy ripping everything out of the race car that i did. Its when you get to the sound deadening that it sucks!
but yes, the engine bay is so clean and tidy with No, A/C, lines, washer fluid, headlights, etc.
good luck and have fun.

Yup, Ive got a/c delete, no washer tank, a manual rack to install, losing the watercooling for the new turbo and associated lines and going to a n/a coolant tank. I will be adding another oil cooler though..should clean up the old engine bay a bit.

I'm right there. The billet A/C delete bracket I think is one of the prettiest pieces on the engine, and you can't even see it!
I too felt happiness ripping out the crappy old AC system... it was vengeance for all the posts and for sale ads mentioning non-working AC systems. I actually sealed one of the lines with a shiny 2006 penny covered in clear silicon
Getting the padding under the carpet out sucked, but I stayed at it until all the glue was gone. I also have a full manual steering setup and will do that concurrent to suspension since everything will need realignment anyway. Power sunroof? Gone.
Heck I've probably cleaned 10 pounds of dirt out of mine that accumulated in the last 20 years.
Keep at it... they love you for it!

Three Wheelin'
I took the driver's power seat out out of my 951 last weekend to try to fix one of the switches. Not to sure how accurate this is, but standing on the bathroom scale it weighed 50 lbs. that's 100 lbs of seats that you adjust once and leave alone. Some old Speedster shells would be nice. I also converted over to manual sunroof Sunday.

2400 lbs is not a problem well stripped out. Could still be street legal, but not really fun street car since it will be really loud inside. As for power/weight ratio it still sucks on an NA, but with suspension work at that weight the car get very fun to drive on track because it responds quickly and is very tossable. Makes a stock 951 feel like boat. Still a stock boost/stock weight 951 will take it in a straight line.
