If you pull out the gauge cluster, it'll be pretty obvious. You'll see right where the cable feeds through the firewall and you can follow it along inside the engine compartment to the spindle.
You need to release it from the spindle end and pull it up through the dash. I believe there's some kind of a clamp on the back of the spindle as well.
It's a lot easier to get to everything if you pull the steering wheel.

Make it easy on yourself. Cut the cable on the speedo end near the ferrule , electrical tape the wheel end of the new cable to the new cable stub and use the old cable as a feed thru for the new one.
