Default OT Just got a call from the guy I sold a car to

I sold it to him five years ago with 74k on it. He just took it to the dealer with 190+ and a blank check.

The dealer changed the plugs and some filters.

Over 100K and all he has done to it is routine maintenance outlined in the book, and changed the oil with mobil 1 on a regular basis.

Gotta love those Acura Legend Coupes. If I could find a low mileage example I think I would buy one. I retrospect I regret not selling the first S2 before the motor rebuild, theft etc. instead of the Legend Coupe.

nah, hondas are cheap american made cars. I want a precision made foreign car. plus hondas are no fun to drive.

That legend coupe was a schweeeet car, and the back seat was almost as useless as the back seat in the 944. almost!

if i sold the first S2, sold the rx7 convertible and kept the legend coupe, i would still be driving the legend coupe, would not have had the mullet, would have probably gotten the gray S2 as a toy.... if, if, if....

Who thinks I could have kept one car as a DD from 97 when i got the red legend (stolen in 98 replaced a week later with the green one) to now? ten years... i would have lowered it, and done other things to crap it up in the name of better performance.

OFF TOPIC!

This is a 944 forum - not a forum about some crappy Japanese 'near luxo' brand...

-Z-man.

PS: Just messin' with ya Tom - I guess the guy who BOUGHT the car from you was better off BUYING it rather than LEASING it...

Oh, and one of the funnest cars I've owed was a 1990 Acura Integra GS. Well made, handled great for a FWD car, and was nice looking as well...

Touche! ya got me!! The best deal is buying a clean used car. That I have always said. IMHO the best deal is a five year old car with about 20-25k miles, just like the acura was. the age cuts the value and the low mileage means there is plenty of life. that is IMHO the best compromise.

I overpaid for that car in 98 when it had 22k miles on it and three floor mats by each seat so the carpet doesnt get dirty.

the S2 will probably get replaced by a GTO in a year or two. As soon as the new camaros come out all the guys that bought GTOs to keep for life will want out because it is an ugly car (subjective, but sales results prove same). I bought mine in 04 for 20 and sold it two years later for the same.

I think i will be able to get a 20k mile GTO for about 13K in two years. I just have to hope the 20k wasnt put on 1/4 mile at a time.

I have an '05 Acura TL and love it. It's quick and tight and a lot of fun to drive. Especially with the extras.

I think Acura/Hondas are good cars in general especially for transportation. However, I had 2 legends in the past and was not thrilled with the torque steer especially while the tire is spinning either in a straight line or out or a U-turn where you need to accelerate to traffic speeds. It happens when you put a v6 in a front wheel drive car I guess. Another thing I don't like about them is the front brakes. Every Honda/Acura I had in the past (during the legend production years) including the legends have brake rotor warping problems even for regular driving in L. A. traffic. The automatic transmission I had in the 89 Legend I had was clunky and the 91 stick I had had main shaft bearing issues which destroyed the input shaft ($775 just for the shaft). The timing belt for the legend cost me $60 while the 944 costs me $8. Every car have their problems and the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I can go to the Acura forum and talk about the (neglected) 346k 951 I drove for 3 years doing nothing more than oil change and timing belt though its an exception and not the rule.

I'm driving around an '87 Legend Coupe (2.7L v6, 5sp)... Holy torque steer! It's murder… But it’s a fun car to abuse.

Is your tranny kinda noisy and had to change/resurface rotors a few times so far?

Actually the tranny isn't bad at all. Just changed the oil and it shifts like new.

The brakes are a different story. They are terrible.

mine were both automatics, one was a 92 red coupe that was stolen in 98 from the same lot the red S2 was stolen from. The one i sold my co worker was a 93. thats the one he turned 190K on with no work.

20/20 hindsight is wonderful. I sold the legend coupe and kept the 944. A year later I sold the RX7 convertible.

Then it all started to crumble. The $$ from the RX7 convertible went into the S2 motor, then the S2 was stolen. Before I blinked $10k vanished.

I got the mullet, sold it a year later to lease the GTO. Driving the mullet or a year cost me another couple $K (optical ignition). The GTO at $200 a month was great.

In hindsight if I sold the S2 instead of the legend coupe, then sold the RX7 like i did, then a year later bought the gray S2 I would be close to 20k less in debt.

After five years I know I got rid of what might have been the exception, and stepped right into the rule!

Oh... The car has 310,000kms and the shocks are original. I don't know who made the shocks but they are amazing!

Well, I doubt any of your cars ever see the kind of neglict I deal with as you take care of your cars better than most and I tend to pick them up from the bottom of the barrel and even some overspills. RX7 rotary motors are known to not last too much past 100k due to apex seals and 944s are known to have more maintenance issues than Legends. However, the torque steer is very irritating to me and I just have a feeling when you go back from the GTO to the legend, you will be disappointed.

I had a Acura Integra for a while (month) and was not impressed at all. It was fully loaded too. I guess the only thing I like was the seats. I was glad to get rid of that lame honda powered thing.

I hate to say it but I'm considering a 03 Toyota avalon.
