maybe a silly question: will 951 springs fit early 944?

The regular non-M030 S2 spring is rate is 23.8 N/mm = 136 lb/in.

N/a, S, and Turbo springs are 21.8 N/mm = 124 lb/in.

Turbo S/M030 (87 & later) springs are 28.0 N/mm = 160 lb/in.

Pre-87 M030 suspension is 24.1 N/mm = 138 lb/in

If your car is either an 030, or 031, you cannot use them since these cars have adjustable perches.
Someone can correct me if I am mistaken, but there were no M030 adjustable perches from the factory on 83 944 cars.

You are probably right since I saw an M030 944 suspension with adjustable perches on an '83 about a year ago at a track event. Perhaps the guy bought a set of used ones from a later car?
