Helicoil Your Head Stud
I have the $90 helicoil set, $25 drill bit, $50 right angle drill adapter and large chuck, $15 stubby 1/4 socket wrench, and the $.99 roll of electrical tape needed to make it all work should someone need to helicoil in the future.
PM me if needed.

I would never trust a Heli-Coil for a head stud but I'm sure someone here will say it works fine. The Heli-Coil is OK for low torque pull-out strength but a head bolt probably goes through more high load heat expansion/contraction cycles than any fastener on the car. I would go one size over with a reamer/retap and go oversize on that one stud. There are some very strong metal-based filled that are as strong or stronger than the aluminum. These can all be machined and tapped. We use a filler/repair compound made by Belzona at work but man is it expensive. Devcon and Bondo also make some similar products. I don't consider JB Weld in the same category.

According to Black and Decker's Elmhart Teknologies info department, the M12 1.5 helicoil can hold 255lb/ft of torque before stress loads stretch a properly installed coil. (properly installed means center drilled, tapped, and sealed with an anerobic sealant)
I know we are not near 255 ft/lbs on these studs, so it should work. If not, you'd still have enough material for a time sert or oversized stud.
