Newbie needs clutch help
I'm a 1st time Porsche owner with an '84 944 - All stock with 177K and about 3K on a rebuilt engine. While I'm not a novice with cars, I have 0 experience with these vehicles and so call upon you here for help.
My issue is a dead clutch pedal. I suspect a hydraulic issue. Symptoms: fluid patch on ground under car - not oil, more like brake fluid and master cylinder was quite low on fluid when checked / clutch pedal goes to floor... and stays there / no apparent leaks on clutch master, hose, or slave cylinder, yet the fluid was there under the car nonetheless. Even after refilling the master cylinder and attempting to recreate a leak I got nothing but more dead pedal.
Can anybody steer me in the right direction so that I don't begin blindly replacing the entire hydraulic system?

It sounds like a dead clutch slave for sure. The common thought is when the slave goes, the master probably isn't far behind. I had a similar thing happen on my 88 na last week. I ordered the two cyls, and the hose between them from Paragon (http://www.paragon-products.com/category_s/119.htm) for less than $200, IIRC. Your local parts stores will quote you closer to $100 just for the slave.
