Default Need some heat

Hi. I have visited this site at lunch time for the past few months since I bought an '87 944. I put some Blizzaks on it and have been driving it this winter here in North Dakota. Actually, winter has been pretty mild this year. The last couple of weeks however, the temperature has been running down into the minus 20 degrees area at night and minus 10 to zero during the day time. My problem is that the heater warms up and the car starts to get warm but when I stop at a stop sign or light, it starts to blow cold air. When I take off, it starts to warm up again. I have checked the antifreeze level several times and it is not low. Does anyone have any ideas?

Or you could have a vacuum leak... I had that once -- it turned out to be the nipple on the vacuum resevoir next to the battery. if the vacuum pressure isn't constant, the heater valve will open an close.

http://www.clarks-garage.com has the process for bleeding the cooling system. It's easy to do. Best if done when the front of the car is higher then the back end.

Welcome aboard! Have pictures you can put up?
