Default Help identifying this rear sway bar

Part number, from what I can read, is 477 5 3 MUB
Bushing number is 477 411 313 B, if that helps any.

I bought it on Ebay a few months back, and I am finally getting around to painting it and installing it. It was advertised as a 16mm rear from a turbo. Just looking for confirmation as I don't have a pair of mikes laying around.

PET says that the bushing is from a 18mm bar. Dont see that part number for the sway bar.

If the part # looks like this it is an 18mm out of an 86 turbo. What do the bar ends look like?

Just measure it with a caliper to be sure.

If you don't have a caliper, wrap a string around it to measure the circumf. then use circumf = 2πr.

Ok, I've double checked the part number on the bar about 5 times now, it seems like the part number format is off by 2 numbers. what is on the bar is exactly as follows: 477 5 3 MUB
I thought there should be another number after the 477, and another in between the 5 3, then the MUB is right after the 5 3, not below it like on Schwank's bar. I'd take a picture, but I don't have a camera anymore, and I just bought a new phone that I can't get to sync to my PC with my pre-existing Bluetooth dongle from my old phone

Anyways, I tried the string method and I keep coming out with 20mm, maybe I'm doind something wrong in my math? And it is definatley a rear bar.

I wrap the string around, I keep getting exactly 2.5 inches. Multiply 2.5 by 25.4 to get MM, correct? That makes circumference 63.5mm. Divide 63.5 by 3.14=20.2
Am I measuring the wrong part of the bar? I am wrapping around the middle.

Your math is good. I guess your bar is just awesome!

Your math looks correct. But you can also get out a set of metric open end wrenches, 16mm, 18mm, 19mm etc. See which one approx. fits on the bar. Or tighten a crecent wrench down on the bar, and measure the gap between the jaws, etc...

The number on the bar itself is not a porsche inventory part number. Its some reference number used by the manufacturer. As with many parts, the casting or imprinted number does not match the factory inventory part numbers.

20mm bars are pretty rare - only came on the 87-88 944S M030 option.

Ok, I just slipped a few wrenches over it. 17 won't fit over it, and a 19mm leaves a tiny gap, so I guess it is an 18 after all. I must not be very good with string.
Time for paint, and then she goes on the car tomorrow morning, thanks for the help guys
