I have the Paragon one installed. In all honesty, I wish I had known about the 928 Leather Shop one. The Paragon hood liner looks nice, it's lightweight, and it's remained intact thus far. However, I've noticed that due to its metallic nature combined with car vibrations, it is abrasive. I had a lot of my engine parts powdercoated a couple months ago and the Paragon hoodliner is actually scratching parts of it off where it touches. The 928 Leather Shop one looks like it's softer, but I really can't comment because I've never felt it. Anyways, live and learn.

This stuff makes a great sound/heat shield, very fire-resistant, has rip-stop reinforcement in the foil layer(s), and attaches easily using common hi-tack adhesives. I did my engine for less than $20. I also used it loose on the floor pans and rear deck. An added benefit is if your floor pan gets wet (sunroof, battery box, etc) the foil layer will act as a sacrificial anode preventing corrosion of the interior floor pan.

It should have detailed installation instructions with it....this shop does AAA work, so if in doubt, ask. I'm definitely going to get one of these!

Except for the Porsche crest NuPrene is the same aircraft product as the 'soft' one mentioned above. I bought 6 sheets and used it on doors, rear sidewalls, and rear cubbies. It's great stuff also. Call me cheap but there is always a less expensive or equal way to do anything. $6 will do a hood.

i bought one from the guy who does leather dashes. Used 3M 08088 general adhesive spray- taped up the bottom of the hood, prepped it w/ de-wax and sprayed the liners and hood w/ a nice layer of glue. Waited 10 minutes and then stuck them on. Worked great.

I have both. The one from the 928leather shop is superior. You don't want to know what the aging foil one looks like. I have crap all over my 944S engine bay. they don't stand up to heat very well.

Not to bag on 928leather, but it says:
1) insulates the hood, keeps the top cool
2) does not reflect heat back down toward the intake
So where does the heat go? I'm curious as to how this works.
Never really thought about engine compartment heat before, but it seems to me that the hood really needs some kind of ventilation at the top for cooling.
