Question Does anyone have pictures of Recaro Pole Position seats in their car?

Just trying to find some pictures of these seats in a 944, especially of the backs.

Also where is the best place to get these seats?

speedwaremotorsports seems to have the most agressive prices on recaro from my research.

Im planning on getting the same seats for my car eventually, probably by end of summer. Almost bought a slightly used Profi SPG (slightly narrower seat) on sunday, but passed up on it.

The price of this seat does not vary much, everywhere sells it for about $650. StableEnergies.Com is a good vendor and they do carry the seat. I think the big difference in price will be finding a place that ships it the cheapest.

Jarmo, do you have sliders on your drivers side seat? Do you have any issues with head clearance when wearing a helmet?

Hi,

Yes, both seats have sliders. I also have slight issue with head clearance with helmet on as I am 190 cm tall. Unfortunately my car has sunroof as well so it makes things even more cramped. I haven't driven this car on a race track yet so I don't have definite answer.. but I think I'll need to fabricate custom brackets for the seat. There is about 15mm between the floor and the seat bottom with the stock Recaro brackets so it's possible to get it little lower and still have the sliders in there. Something else I'll have to do is get rid of the sunroof mechanism and then get a roof liner from non sunroof car. It will hopefully help a little as well.

JarmoL- I can't tell from your pics, but are the backs of the seats smooth or do they have the "X" sort of area like the 968 CS seats? I don't know if that is the best description but I know the stock CS seats have a sort of X rib on the back, I assume for added strength.

Are the sliders recaro units?

Hi,

The seat backs are totally smooth so they are not so good looking as original CS seats.
Sliders are from Recaro and they are quite a bit stiffer than the sliders in other cars I have ever driven. I guess it's ok for the use they are intended.

So Jarmo, is that a turbo 968? That is nice.

To make more headroom you could remove the liner panel from the sunroof and paint the underside of the sunroof satin black. That helps some.

Jarmo, are you using an anti-sub belt, and what are your shoulder belts attached to?

It looks like the shoulder belts are attached to the point where the top half back seat striker would go for the latch assembly.

Here's pictures of my installation with Sparco adapters and sliders.

Sunroof is deleted and no problems with headroom.

Hi,

Sorry I don't know what the anti-sub belt is. But the shoulder belts go all the way back to where the rear seat belts used to be attached.
I am actually taking those belts away and will be using stock belts. I think racing harness is a little too restrictive for road use.(if it's tightened properly)
I may investigate for the possibility to keep the harness on the driver's side as well though. Maybe it would be a good idea to install a harness bar then if that plan works out. It would be great for the track use of course.

About the car.. It is 2.8 stroker build from a 944 turboS block. I haven't driven it much yet so I can't really comment on performance. But it feels a little quicker than my previous chipped 944turboS..
