Default Kill Switches...why bother if I have a factory alarm

So I was contemplating the idea of installing a kill switch (ignition/DME/whatever) on my 85/1, but then I did some searching 'round here and found some threads about the factory alarm. I have the early one, the one with the separate key on the outside. As it also cuts the ignition when it goes off, would installing a kill switch be somewhat pointless? If I just use the alarm (and I know it works), that seems like enough.

The problem with the factory alarms is that they, like the cars are old, and tend to fail quite frequently. If yours is working now, it may at somepoint fail, it seems inevitable with these. It comes down to trusting the old factory alarm vs. a kill switch or new alarm.

I would use the factory alarm instead of installing a new kill switch.

But do a search and learn how to bypass it if it ever does fail.

I've seen the clark's article on bypassing it if it fails.

I felt like I was just overthinking it!
