Wow, I would have thought you would make more at a P-dealership starting...

I'd be happy to have you over for like $18 bucks/hr. to do my clutch, maybe throw in lunch?

Air Cooled Classics here quoted like $75 per hour here. I'll take some of thet $18!
My sister started on me a coupla weeks ago about this program. I got the big envelope yesterday. Been in sales 20 years and hate it. I love working on cars, but I would never get this paid off at my age.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Actually, there were quite a few people doing career changes, the gentleman that i was with from beginning to end was 40 and was making 125K working on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. I was told i would easily make 35K my first year being salary for 6 months. Thats a good start, i was told i should be a good wrench and easily making 60k in just a few years. Remember techs get paid flat rate, whatever the book says for time is what you get paid, easy to make good money.

Oh, the only reason Ford would pay me more is they are desperate for diesel techs, that is the ticket right now, they have very very few good diesel techs, any good techs are booked up at least 3 weeks.

Hey Mark,

While you are in Atlanta if you have some open weekends you'll have to stop by in Norcross. There is a loose group of guys that have been meeting on Saturdays to do some wrenching and have lunch...Would be great to meet up with you.

If you havent, make sure you take Ford FACT, they look very highly on any factory training. Attendence, and GPA, and you have a clean Motor vehicle record.

Congratulations Mark! Wait ~10 years, and then start your own Porsche shop.. depending on the area, I'm sure there could be some huge $$$ in that.

Congrats Take it form some one who is Porsche Aftersales Certified, Its the Best Job you'll ever have. I really enjoyed working for Porsche, The only reason I left was a oppurntiuy my brother gave me to come and help him open a recording Studio! It will be fun and you can make very good money, I know a few techs who are making 50-60K per year and there only 21 or 22 years old.

Also understand that since you do get paid a flat rate. Work your But off it the sumer, late spring and early fall months because alot of Porsches are seaonal cars. Winters can be slow and you might not have that much to do. But good luck and by the way which Dealer you will be working for? If you are going to be working at Porsche Of Scottsdale in AZ tell Jonathon Merkel that Brandon Zorn says Hi. He'll remeber me.
