Default Getting ready to do a transmission swap in my 83

Read Clark's and it seems pretty straightforward but laborous. Any words of caution/encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Michael
ps - I have jack and jack stands and the listed tools and could enlist the help of a friend.

took us three hours to do tifo's trans swap- with air tools and we ate lunch. Key thing is make sure all the wires/linkage/ tt couplers are unhooked before trying to pull it out- and pull the axels from the hubs/trans dont mess w/ the big hub bolts.

Cool. Thanks. I pick up a tranny on Monday or Tuesday. Will probably get my air tools on Friday. Hopefully and seemingly, I will have it all sorted out by next Monday. Wish me luck. Michael.

I pulled the trans from my car pulled one from another car and put the one back in my car. Took about 1.5 hr. Hardest thing for me was to lift the trans up to the trans jack. I didn't have anyone with me to help. I pulled and put it in my car while on the lift and the wreck I pulled it from was on jack stands.

When you take the shifter rod off the trans make sure you feel up top for the saftey wire that goes through the bolt. If you do not find that and you snap that bolt because of that then you will be in for a real good time with a drill and helicoils. Then you will have one hell of a time finding the correct bolt to put back into that. Other than that the job is very easy and you will enjoy doing it. Not a bad job at all.
