Default Coolant dumped in bellhousing

Revoved heater control valve to put two grounds on bell housing after replacing clutch pack on my 951. A bunch of coolant dripped down into the bellhousing inspection hole. Still have to put intake manifold on the engine before reassembly is complete. Am I screwed now because coolant has probably hit the pilot bearing? I am quite worried right now about this and want to hear from other as how I should proceed.

Thanks,

Jon

I think the real worry is if the clutch disc gets soaked with coolant.

Would the cold coolant penetrate the clutch disk or just contaminate it? It the clutch pack is slapped shut would this help to keep it safe?

Thanks,

Jon

Not much else to do but drive it and find out. I would think it would take quite a bit of coolant to permanently damage the clutch disk - not just a few ounces. Maybe take the car out for an 'Italian Tune Up' as soon as possible....

It' will be fine. It would be an issue if you actually submerged it and soaked it for a while. Spillage shouldn't be an issue. If you are really worried, blow it out with an airgun. I've never heard of a clutch blowing in a flood car or suggestions to change it after being soaked. You're fine, drive it.

It ruins it when it gets dumped in there hot and you are driving the car, ie, using the clutch. I moved my valve over onto the water tube and put a heat shield under it.
