Default Rear Brake Upgrade for 1985.5

I am running 17" wheels and have Big Reds on the front.

What is a great bolt on rear brake upgrade for 1985.5 NA 944 to balance out the front brakes?

Put the rear 944 Turbo brakes to even it out. They bolt right up without modification. All you need are the calipers, different length bolts, spacer washers, spring washers, rotors and pads.

Your using big reds upfront with single piston calipers in the rear??

I have attached a photo. I bought the car with the brake setup on it. The previous owner had only upgraded the front brakes. I would assume, the 944T brakes would have to be from a 1986 to work with my hubs. Is that correct?

You can use 86 turbo calipers only because of the offset issue. Been looking for some myself

Do you know the sizes of the bolts? How do you determine how many spacer washers to use? You wouldn't happen to have a set of these brakes, would you?

Nope.

For the rear, any year of rear 951/S2/968 calipers will bolt right up. You will want 86 951 rotors though, specifically for the offset issue you raise above. These are a straight bolt-on to your car as well.

Do you know the sizes of the bolts? How do you determine how many spacer washers to use? You wouldn't happen to have a set of these brakes, would you?
When you source the rear 951/S2/968 calipers, just be certain to get the two bolts and two washers/spacers that go with each caliper. If you can't, the PET lists the part#'s and you could order them. I don't have the PET on this laptop or I would offer up part #'s for you.

The bolt part #'s are N.040.108.1 M12x1.5x40

You need two spacers for each caliper, part #'s are 999.025.131.02 . Last time i checked these were $5 each. Tifo informed me that any 1/2 washer will work in place of this. Total cost is less than a dollar as opposed to $20 (thanks Tifo!).

I do not have a spare set of calipers to sell. Check on eBay...there are always a few sets for sale.

Thanks Jon. Did I send you my spare washers? Those worked fine for you, right? I meant to measure them and take pics so that I could insert that into one of these threads for future search needs.

Tifo, you did send me 4x of them and they worked great. They are a pretty generic size as i pulled 4 out of a hardware case to put the rear calipers on my friends car.

I've got a front and rear set of 951 calipers with rotors, pads and hardware available - asking $250 for all or $135 for each set. Shipping not included.
