Would a cloth headliner look weird against the vinyl sunvisors and trim pieces?

Do those too.
I was thinking about doing something in my GTI just to give me something to do.

Isnt there someone who did a carpeted headliner on rennlist? IIRC it looked sweet. I believe it was part of a whole custom carpet job.

To clarify im not doing actual cloth or anything weird like that - this is headliner material imn talking about.

Nah. Rich Sandor's car did the 'lightweight' carpet and it looked good with the vinyl.

I remember a lot of the pictures were missing because it's such an old thread. But there may be some there.

I have the pics saved several places- not sure about "all" of them, but when I saw the thread long ago, I got everything that was there at the time... I can send them &/or post, later, if you guys can't find them. Maybe later tonight, or worst case, tommorrow night, as I'm leaving right now & have tons going on, so no time for computer stuff... But, IMO, Rich's car looked great & I've actually considered it myself- one really cool thing that I thought of, from it, was the rear side walls below the 1/4 windows- if you did the carpet right, you could make it so you could get to the rear speakers much more easily than w/the panels there... I thought that would be a nice touch. Going all the way up on the ceiling doesn't sound too cool, but it really looked nice the way he did it. I'm copying him right now on the rear seat bottom & am hoping I can do even close to as good of a job as he did...

If your going to use actual headliner material like a lot of cars have, I don't think its going to look right in a 944. But I may have your material choice mistaken.

If someone could post those pics again, I would be interested too. I need to repair my head liner, and I would like to do it myself.

i keep trying to get nine44 to do his headliner in suede leather- they make a synthetic that works very well- used it on my 914.

Ok, I HAD to start looking for them- here are the only 3 I've ever seen. IF there are more, please post- I'd like to see them... BTW- the 3rd pic was 164KB- too large to upload- I edited it w/ACDSee- made the dimensions slightly smaller from 800x600 to 750x5xx, but it went up to 350KB or so. I had to re-edit it several times & shrink it several ways, all the way down to almost 400x300. How do you make a pic take up less room, but keep it larger size- is that possible? I couldn't believe the pic took up more space when I made it smaller... Anyway, here they are:

Oh yeah, one other thing- in that last pic, where he says "seatback bolt must be installed to secure backing nut inside chassis..." This is NOT true... I'm assuming that most people who would do such a mod to their car, would be doing so in more of an effort to save weight, while possibly still trying to keep the interior looking presentable- that's what I'm doing. Anyway, those seatback bolts are very large & heavy & probably weigh a full 1lb/ea, so removing them is a good thing. The backing nut is big too- I'm enclosing a pic here, since I'm on the subject, b/c I don't think many people have ever seen one before- you have to cut them out like I did, which is worth close to another 1lb/ea, & is worth it IMO... OR, if you're simply worried about it rattling, you can take some paper towel or some neoprene, or one of a dozen simple lightweight materials & stuff it in the hole tightly to stop the noise & thereby get rid of the ugly looking bolts... just an FYI...

FWIW i think the carpeting in those pics and headliner look pretty damn good. Of course it might look like crap in real life, but I doubt it.
