Default 89 NA For Sale - Make Me A Realisitic Offer!

SOLD!
I will probably put it on craigslist and autotrader this weekend with a $5500 asking price. I would rather it go to an enthusiast. Below is a description of the car, and a list of what was done to it. The water leak is fixed! It was the quarter window. The cracking in the clearcoat was typical and Porsche had to repaint a lot of cars under warranty.

Here is the deal. If you want a 944, and think this is the car for you, either shoot me a PM or post what you are willing to pay pending a PPI. I will take it to the shop of your choice in the 516 or 718 area code. If you have an opinion of what it is worth post it here as well with how you came up with the number. Make me a realistic offer. A realistic low offer is fine, as long as it doesn't involve a neon in trade.

My NA - 78K miles, ABS, Linnen outside Blue leather/power inside. 10 speakers from factory. Split rear seat with cargo cover. Phone dials with tired pirellis.

I found this car for my brother in Sept 04 when he sold his 84 944. The owner was a nice middle aged gent. It was his toy. He sold it to help pay for his daughters wedding. It was an exceptionally clean car with the only defect a dash crack and some clear coat issues. It has the window sticker (36k), tool set, air pump, and almost all maintenance records from day one. I scanned the records into a file and will email the file to interested persons.

The car was "right" then, and the car is "right" now.

The car was never hit, all paint appears to be original. I bought the car from my brother a few months ago to replace my leased GTO when he bought my S2, and I bought a 951.

Recent maintenance:
Jan 07 Windshield replaced $500 & Coverlay set down correctly
Dec 06 Transmission oil changed $50. Battery replaced $80.
Nov 06 Alignment $100
Oct 06 Belts/Rollers/Motor Mounts, belts, rollers $270 in parts from paragon
Sep 06 Tune up $100 parts
May 06 69,500 miles Clutch/PP/TO etc. $2000 receipt
May -ish 06 Rennbay ball joints. $150 in parts
May 05 Brake pads & Front Rotors (thought it was this summer in other post) May be all 4 rotors and local wrench got the rears local. My brother believes rears were replaced with fronts.
Dec 04 45,700 miles Adjust Timing Belt
Sep 04 Belts/Tune up

March 90 2511 mles Oil & filter. Have most records from new, have window sticker. MSRP 36K.

Bad - clear coat has clear coat issues common to Porsche and Volkswagens of the late 1980s. Car looks great at night and from 5 feet away. leak from rear believed to have been diagnosed & cured.

Good - Brand new OEM windshield. Other than the presence of a dash cap the interior is in great shape. Non smoker car.

All body panels are original and have VIN stickers. This is a straight solid NA with the 2.7 motor. but for the recent water leak and multiple nodules on my lungs from 9/11 I would keep this car. I didn't want to spend an additional $5,000 on a different car to drive to the train station.

What are you willing to pay for the car? If you are thinking of a NA to drive this is it. Make an offer I want it out of here quick. My neighbors dont want to see my cars parked in front of their house.

The rear carpet it in the garage. It is in perfect shape. I thought pictures of the straightness of the frame etc. is more important than the carpet. It started raining as I was taking the pictures and it was dusk.

You don't want me to post up my opinion now, do you?!?

Actually, I think your asking price is decent, given that the car is a 2.7. It would be better if you would replace that front nose panel, though...

Tom - I think it's much better that you posted your asking price of $5500.00 instead of "$2000.00 plus what I put into the car, plus the square root of pi times the average rainfall in Brazil."

well since brazil averages about 90" of rain a year and the sq root of pi is 1.77245

5500=2000+X+1.77245*90
5500=2001.77245+X*90
3498.22755=90x
X=38.869195

you only put $38.87 into your car...cheap ***

No, no -
It's
2000 + 3200 + (1.77245)90 = $5359.52.

$ 3500.00??? I paid $ 5000.00 for a 951. 951>944 n/a therefore $ 3500.00 is a good price for a 944 n/a

Lart - my numbers above are just made up and part of a joke.

Tom is asking $5500 for the car.

Tom - see what happens when you start complicating the asking price?!?

I wouldnt even consider selling an NA without perfect bodywork, IMO.

what do you figure it will cost to fix that nose panel? my guess is probably about seven grand once you take care of all the "while you are in there" things.

If you think that is bad, you should see the dirty air in the tires. Genuine NYC smog at its finest!

It was a lot easier putting it on craigslist than I thought.

Glad to see people are good at taking suggestions around here. A car that I would need to be near mint for what I consider to be a upper end price for the model better not have body damage.

A nose panel isn't that much - I do know that last year George B had one for an n/a - it was red though.

As for the NYC air - if you would have kept the original German air in there, it would have added at least $500 to your value!

No, no, no... the German air is metric and can't be mixed with SAE air... it's far too expensive to deal with IMO.

I thought if you first at nitrogen, you'd be ok with mixing US and German air...

The funny thing about the nose panel is that shortly after my brother got his 84 someone customized his car with that same ding.

He didnt have this one long before he got that ding in the nose panel.
