Default Playing with fire?

Another timing belt question.

Just wondering what people think. My timing belt has <10k miles on it, BUT it was replaced 10/01. The reason I was thinking of this is because my alternator belt is making a slight squeling noise on start-up, and it was replaced same date, same mileage.

Thanks!

stick one on it!- although the ribbed belts stretch differently than timing belts- slightly- you may want to do a retension on the timing belt and tighten your alt belt too and it wont squeel!

I just had the belts done in my car (1986 951). Last done in March of 2001 and 35K miles ago with no re- tensions since. Both belts looked like new. The tech wanted to leave them in and just set the tension, but I had him throw new ones in anyway.

Very easy to do, if you need a hand I'm sure I can help you out. Where abouts are you located in Dutchess?

Mike, I'm right outside Millerton. I have a lift, air tools, etc. on premises, and I was thinking about attempting this myself, just wasn't sure how complicated it is on an S.

Thanks!
