Default NO RPM-reading

HI

My 924S 1986 has been under major tuneup and i have difficulties getting last bits finished.

1. Car was not running yesterday as there was no pulse for injectors. fidled around with DME relay and it looked like there was different colour on the lower coil. Fixed the relay problem with paper piece pushing the relay closed position and car was running. So it is either the relay or relay's quidance that was wrong.

2 Today I realised that there is no reading in my RPM gauge. I thought it was a loose wire because i made samo work behind dash, but it is not. I have the whole mater-cluster in my hand but it seems it is all ok no loose wires.

I have a new Dme relay tomorrow so ican see if the relay was faulty.

Is it possible that i have loose or faulty Engine speed sensors and that is causing both problems ?

i know that if the relay or sensor is bad, you will have no tach and no inj. pulse. _ if the relay doesnt work, i would try cleaning the contacts on the sensors.

by wire? are you thinking of the speedometer? Our 87 924s has two ref sensors - still reads tach off of them.

- by tach i mean tachometer or RPM.

Default Q

Have to do the cleaning and tightening of sensors tomorrow. can they be also measured with ohm-meter to diagnose their operation ??

I just realised you had 1987 24S with tubo sways. Any problems or mods needed bolting them on? I was thinnking about doing the same.

If the car runs, you have a tach signal. The signal comes from the same place that the ignition coil pulse comes from. If the tach is not working, it could be a bad brain or a broken wire.

Yes 944, i tihnk you are right. Is there a way to measure the condition of signal or brain.

Default DME relay changed

DME relay changed and car runs like it should but I cant get a reading to my rev- meter. All cables are clean and neat ...

If someone has a instruction for checking the signal plaese let me know too.

Any information regarding how common the rev meter failure is is well appriciated.

THANKS to and happy New Year 2007

My friend with 944 '85 has the same problem with tachometer. Any ideas where to look at?
