Angry Wont go into reverse!

I bought a schnell short shifter for my '83 944 about 7 months ago and when i first got it i tried installing it and it wouldnt go in reverse. I messed with it for about a week then gave up and stuck it in a drawer. Well, last week i decided to have at it again and it seems like it will go half way into reverse but not enough to grab. Ive spent hours working on this thing and cant figure out any reason why it wont go into reverse.

Could there be something wrong with my transmission or shift linkage that would only allow the stock shift assembly on the transmission to work?

Has anybody had an issue when using the schnell short shifter?

Yes there could be a problem. You might do a search here and see if you find info on others schnell installs. I suspect there is nothing wrong with the tranny and it is a simple matter of adjustment or potentially worn parts out of tolerance.

Ive searched all of the past threads I could find on the schnell shifter and havent found anything that refered to problems with using it.

If I bought another one directley from schnell would i be able to send it back if it doesnt work when i try and use it? I know there site says money back but has anybody done this with any of their parts when they didnt like them?

Sorry if it sounds like i dont trust them with giving me my money back but ive already spent 100 on a useless peice of metal and hours trying to make it work.
