After talking a bit with thedge it looks like I'm gonna need four -12AN M12x1.5 fittings to replace the factory ones on the housing and cooler. However, I will attempting to mount the cooler behind the nose panel since my foglights are already taken up by brake cooling ducts. In the next couple of days I'm gonna mock up the cooler and see what angled fittings I'll need.

I removed one of my brake cooling ducts to put in the oil cooler. I then put in turning vane for the brakes. It is not as effective as a full duct as evicended by the heat zones on the pads, but the cooler is more important.

yeah i had to remove one of my factory brake ducts on my turbo to put in the s2 oil cooler, but better to cool the motor...maybe i'll go w/ a real brake cooler setup if they are getting too hot.

I have purchased a turbo cooler for my NA. Now I need to buy hoses and fittings. I also need to figure out where to attach it all. Does it attach to the existing cooler, replace existing cooler etc...

Also, does anyone have any pictures of how it is hooked up? Joe, I have a picture that you posted on the NASA forum of where you made the bracket to attach, but my question is where to the hoses and fittings attach.

I got a sandwich plate from BAT in Florida and some AN fittings as well. I then went to ebay and found some Aeroquip lines from a NASCAR (don't laugh...it was a winning team). I replaced the fittings on the cooler with AN fittings. I mounted the cooler in the stock 951 location, but had to cut off the back of the foglight bucket. I am seeing at least a 20 degree drop in temperature.

I could try and take photos over the weekend.

OK folks

I see some of you are fitting a turbo oil cooler to a N/A . I presume its a S2 your fitting it too.???

Im just looking into the same thing.. BUT with a twist.
I want to fit 2 turbo oil coolers , one either side of the water rad ,left + right,,, basically in the same original position as the turbo, but mirroring it with a second on the other side,, if you get my drift... Complete with the turbo air ducting....
So i can get better oil cooling for my track car...
I also have some of the turbo brake cooling ducts to fit, so i would be removing the S2 oil cooler ...

What connections would i need ?
I realise i need to fabricate some more oil lines,,,BUT,, do i need to use a turbo oil "take off plate" ..etc etc ..
Am i correct in saying that the turbo cooler is slightly smaller than a S2 cooler.??

I hope somebody wiser than me can help...???

Finally
Is it worth me doing this.?? ie will my oil be cooled better buy instaling this mod.???

I use the turbo set-up. This means I pull out the NA oil cooler/oil filter housing and simply bolted in the 944 turbo unit. This one has ports to send oil to the cooler. Simple really.

I think lindsey offers a kit for 944 or 951 oil cooler. don't know the price though.

i upgraded my turbo to the factory s2 oil cooler- s2 has a bigger flat portion than the very thick/small turbo cooler.

I have a question. If you port this over to an n/a how do you block off the liquid/liquid cooler? Does the 951 Adaptor plate that attaches where the oil filter goes eliminate the water lines (i.e. reroute them so they loop around?)?

I don't have any schematics to see how the 951 or the aftermarket adaptors work. The only thing I've seen is a pretty cheesey drawing I saw on eBay for aftermarket units. Anyone ever put one of these in? Do they work well and quality made?

I also found this Adaptor on eBay.

Another Kit - includes lines, etc.

Same Kit as above that relocates the oil filter

The NA oil filter/oil cooler housing has the stock water bath oil cooler. Pull it out and put in a complete 951 oil filter housing and it has all you need. The 951 oil cooler is cooled by the air not the water. The 951 oil filter housing then has ports for the supply and return lines to the cooler.

The sandwich plate you have pictured is for the aftermarket cooler. Here one is supply and the other is return for the cooler. Using this you can keep the stock water bath oil cooler or a stock turbo air/oil cooler and then have two. You would plumb them in on seperate lines.

Get rid of the NA housing all together like Joe suggests. I test fit mine turbo setup on my NA block the other day so I can confirm it fits. It's a MUCH superior design.

NA on the left Turbo on the right.

I have a spare Turbo housing with oil cooler and lines if anyone is interested.

Mike you are missing the little oil transfer tube in the 951 housing. that goes in place of the actual oil cooler.
