The Army will place you were they need you UNLESS you have a prior agreement. When it came time to make my selection list, I got my second pick...others were not so lucky. I also applied for my first duty stations on the East and West coasts, I got New Mexico. Some guys in boot that had a job agreement were told half way through boot that the schools were full and they had a choice, go home or take another job. About half didn't want to start boot over so they took another job.

I remember guys telling me all sorts of stories that recruiters had told them, some were down right funny.

(campeck) no my agreement didnt say anything like that. but I knew when i signed it that my jobs werent guaranteed. thats why I was told to choose three. I can still pick three more. I can call him right now. Im alrerady signed in. why would he still need to be lying to me.

Long time ago, but things haven’t changed that much. I have a good friend who was in ROTC and just got out of Ranger school and we talked a lot about our experiences. The only difference I heard was the integration of men and women during training.

well. I gave him a call and he assured me without a doubt that
1.) theres no chance in hell ill be infantry. they are already at their max and infantry jobs wont open till the end of the summer
2.) that I can pick any individual job thats open at the end of boot camp while im in weapons training.
3.) that he obviously cant guarantee any particular job. that not choosing a category and having it secured now but without the actual job i want is a tradeoff for being able to choose any particular job but maybe not having the one i want...

on a better note. my IST I got 5 pullups then he told me stop. apparently 2 is enough!
50 situps in 75 seconds. 44 in 2 minutes is enough. lol
and 1mile 1/2 in 13min30sec . i did it in 12. gawd im out of shape.

You will enjoy the infantry. Go ahead, tell the recruiter to sign you up, you won't be sorry. We got all the fifty's you want. ( you just have to hump ours! )
