Default Beater 924: No Clutch Pedal Pressure

My beater 942 which has been serving me well for the last year or so, finally has a problem (aside from fumes and oil leaks...). I was driving home tonight when the clutch pedal lost all pressure after a popping noise.

Please don't tell me I need a new tranny....

Sounds like your master and/or slave clutch cylinders blew.

You’re tranny is OK!

Thanks for the response.

I was reading through other posts, and it seems pretty common. Too bad the 924 has no torque for me to be able to drive it without the clutch. I'll have a shop look over the car to see what exactly went wrong.

The 924 will be back on the road in no time hopefully.

BTW, what are some good sources for master/slave cylinders in So-Cal?

I believe pelicanparts.com is in Cali.

Really, any of the online suppliers can ship to your door in no-time.

yeah...definitely not a transmission issue and probably not a clutch issue...when my 924S clutch died, I knew right away because the damn thing wouldn't shift into gear even with the clutch pedal depressed (this was warning sign 1...warning sign 2 was the leap forward the car took when I tried to stop and restart it in hopes of magically repairing whatever was wrong. said method did not work)

huh? if this is a 78 924 na then there is not hyraulic clutch, most likely your clutch cable broke, probably the plastic hook that attaches to the pedal.

look at the cable and see if it broke. I'm pretty sure non of the 924s other than the 924 turbo and 924S have hydraulic clutches.

Yeah, I was gonna say, you'd probably have better luck replacing the clutch cable...

I'm ashamed of myself now

Didn't help that I was holding a master cylinder in my hands when I posted

in that case, i change my advice to replace that cable tha's where the master/slave cylinder's supposed to be!
