SOMEONE HIT MY PORSCHE!! :@ :@
went for lunch in lansdown mall, was gone for about 30 mins.when i arrive back at my car i see the front bumper smashed in and cracked along with my header pannel and hood. They left no note. Now it is going to cost me 750$ deductable.
i will clearly need a new front bumper, header pannel and possibly a hood (if they include that in the hit.)
opinions as to what my options are?
Since it was a hit and run the police have to be at ICBC to inspect it apparently. I have a feeling this will take a while to settle as i will not settle for anything less than perfect on my car.
Is there any way around the 750$ deductable ? I dont see why i should be paying since i had nothing to do with it.
Also, my alarm is now super sensative and goes off as soon as it is armed so i think i will be claiming that too i think.
help me out im so pissed off right now!

the higher the premium the greater the coverage.
theoreticaly one should insure themselves against whats known as insupportable debt. Lets say you kill someone and get sued for a 3 million dollars, you dont have that money
lets say your house burns down, you dont have the money to fix it
insupportable debt, this is something that YOU decide on when you go out and purchase insurance, if any at all.
after deciding what you need to insure, and what you can afford not to insure, you go out and find an insurance company and get an annual premium.
you could reduce your premium through many ways, one of which is a deductable.
by putting a deductable on a car for instance, but keeping auto insurance, you are basicaly saying that "if my car burns down or is stolen, i do not have enough funds to replace/fix my property, but i can afford a small accident such as a fender bender or a broken windshield"
you put a 750 dollar deductable into your insurance policy, you effectivly told your insurance company that at any time you make a claim you can support 750 dollars out of your own pocket no problem, for that you are rewarded with much smaller premiums.
so i really dont understand your frustration that your decision has now come and bit you in the ***
how much you pay for insurance anyway?

Can't tell if you have a turbo or not from the pic, but if so, better check the intercooler. I'ts right under that header panel. That accident might not be just cosmetic.

As far as I know, no fault is Canada-wide...this sucks bad. Is your car an S2 or turbo...its hard to tell from your pic?
Did you get your car appraised to insure it? That would help you greatly. Since our cars are older, insurance companies often write them off.
Nice Xmas present for you.
Good luck. Keep us posted.

Umm parking lots are not 'no fault' zones....
The only thing close to that, is if both vehicles are moving, each pays their own damages unless one was disobeying a traffic control device.
When one vehicle is parked, it is always 100% the fault of the moving vehicle.
As far as dealing with ICBC on this one.....
You carry collision coverage/comprehensive coverage. Unfortunately this is exactly why you have insurance, and there is most likely no way around the deductible. It can be tough because it is NOT your fault, but yet you end up paying for it.

don't want to hijack this thread but I did not get collision coverage on my insurance so what would happen if this happens to me? they told me that if it is someone elses fault their insurance pays for the repair but what if it is a hit and run?
I don't feel like paying 250 / month for insurance with collsion coverage (vs 135), I also have 20% off.

If you don't have collisioin coverage, if someone hits and runs on you , you're SOL. Insurance won't cover you at all in that case. All your insurance is for if you dont have collision coverage is to cover the other people you hit.
